Ecclesiastes is my favourite book of the Bible. I hadn't thought of it as being a Monty Python book, but now I'll have to reread it and look in earnest for funny walks etc.

Congratulations on making 63! My turn this month, too.

Blessed be the Name of the Lord indeed. It is good be reminded that the Lord did not promise us an easy ride, only that He would be with us through it all. Blessed be the Name of the Lord.

I have to admit that I feel somewhat picked on by this one. True, the world certainly needs more love, demonstrated in all our relationships. That said, to lay the blame for abortions entirely at the feet of men, presumably uncaring men, seems presumptuous. I agree with you K, the world would be a better place if there were more men "doing what they have been called to do and nurture their relationships and take care of things". However, as that old adage goes, "it takes two to tango".

Now that is provocative indeed. If men were good, people like David Warren would never have to make a provocative statement such as this. Sad commentary that there are more passive or aggressive Adams out there in the world than those who are doing what they have been called to do and nurture their relationships and take care of things. Good one. Enjoyed that wee tidbit today.

Well done. I like the way you weave the Transfiguration theme into the message and how you highlight the promises of Scripture, which comfort those who mourn.

Is homosexuality compatible with Scripture? No, it is not. Therefore, a) it does matter if there is "an open contradiction" in this regard, and b) we can not live with it. I think this is one of those "sitting on the fence" issues, and we can not live there. Satan owns the fence, and as long as we sit on it we become less effective in presenting the Gospel as a clear road map for living life. We have to decide which side of fence we are going to jump to. For me, if that is accept that homosexuality as being Scriptural, then I must go elsewhere. If that means taking a stand that homosexuality is unScriptural, which then means we must find some other way to maintain our Anglican roots, count me in.
